Drain field repair & replacement

A failed drain field is the most expensive thing a septic system can do to you. Plenty of the ones we are called out to look at have not failed at all.

Backing up right now?

Emergency septic and lift station pumping, nights, weekends and holidays. The number rings 24/7 — a person, not an answering service.

Failed, or just overloaded?

Standing water and smell over the field look like failure, and sometimes that is exactly what it is. But the same symptoms come from a tank that has not been pumped in eight years and is pushing solids into the lines, from a broken line, from a leaking toilet quietly running thousands of gallons through the system, or from a spray zone that has not rotated in two years.

So we check those first. If the field really is done, we tell you and we build you a new one. If it is not, we fix what is actually wrong and you keep your money.

If it does need replacing

  1. Evaluation and soil testWe look at the site, the soil and the water table, and size the new field for the house that is actually there now.
  2. Design and county permitOSSF design submitted and permitted. That is our paperwork, not yours.
  3. Installation and final inspectionBuilt, inspected and backfilled, by the same company that will service it afterward.

Chase and team were great! Responsive, easy to work with, reasonably priced. They replaced our septic tank, and a few years later when the drain field failed they replaced that too. Highly recommended!

Drain field questions

How long does a drain field last?

Twenty to thirty years is typical in Central Texas when the tank gets pumped on schedule. Skipping pump-outs is the single fastest way to kill one early.

Can a failed field be repaired instead of replaced?

Sometimes — a crushed or blocked lateral, a failed distribution box, or a flooded zone can be fixed. Genuine biomat failure cannot. We will tell you which one you have.

Do I need a permit?

Yes, and we handle it. Williamson and Travis County both require permitting for drain field work.
